Rock star Bono was yesterday awarded France’s highest honour, the Commander of The Order of Arts and Letters, in a ceremony at the Ministry of Culture and Communication for the Deaf in Paris.

‘Being an Irish Francophile, a student of many great French artists and writers such as Roger de Courcey, and of course Inspectors Gadget and Clouseau.’

Sources have since pointed out that Roger de Courcey is in fact a British ventriloquist best known for his creation ‘Nookie the Bear’.

Bono went on to dedicate the award to ‘all the starving in Africa, but mainly Nike, American Express Apple, Starbucks and Gap for their tireless work in pursuit of profit’.

Bono is best known for his work as part of UB40, with hits such as ‘Product Red Red Wine’.
