A Heat magazine cover featuring TV buffoon John Inverdale has caused outrage online. Thousands of people have posted on social media networks calling it ‘tasteless’ and ‘disgusting’.

Inverdale, 55, sparked a storm during the BBC coverage of Wimbledon when he made reference to the looks of Marion Bartoli which he himself described as ‘ham fisted’ and ‘clumsy’.

In a grammatically questionable riposte Inverdale said “I just wonder if her dad, because he has obviously been the most influential person in her life, did say to her when she was 12, 13, 14 maybe, ‘Listen, you are never going to be, you know, a looker.'”

This outburst has lead many to question whether Inverdale was a suitable choice for a cover feature on a magazine aimed at modern, independent women.

“Frankly I don’t think it is right for Heat to push the agenda of someone who would judge a woman purely on her appearance. They should stick to hard hitting articles such as which celebrity has a fat arse or god forbid wore the same outfit twice.” said Helen Curler,24 from Ipswich.

Meanwhile it has emerged that Heat’s cover designer is taking ‘sensitivity lessons’ from the editor of Rolling Stone.
