Twitter has announced the launch of a new dating service for owls in response to a new report from the Barn Owl Trust. This year only 12% of nesting sites across Devon and Cornwall have seen breeding activity according to the charity.

It is thought that owls are suffering from a drop in libido as a result of concerns about the economy, body image and progressively faster mice affecting their food supply.

Dick Costowlo, CEO of Twitter and noted owl enthusiast has stepped forward with a philanthropic endeavour based at alleviating the owls’ woes by helping them communicate with each other.

“Basically we think owls are under represented on social media, so we are launching a new online dating service for them called Twit to Woo in order to help them get their owly rocks off and reverse the trend.”

Bob Hoskins, an owl from Worcester said “I’m so excited about the prospect of Twit to Woo launching my head keeps rotating 360 degrees.”

“All I want is a nice lady owl to take out for a nice vole or two followed by a game of hide the feathery sausage. Is that too much to ask?”

Analysts predict that MySpace will launch a rival service within the next couple of months primarily aimed at the lesbian owl community called ‘Bird2Bird’.
